Les Murmures du Comte: Behind the Scenes with Lyon’s Master Artisans

New! Les Murmures du Comte: Behind the Scenes with Lyon’s Master Artisans
Les Murmures du Comte is a new series of exclusive visits that opens the workshop doors of some of the Lyon region’s most skilled artisans, keepers of traditions passed down for generations, sometimes for centuries. Some of them have already worked with ACL members.
First visit: The art of fine cabinetmaking
Our first host is master cabinetmaker Frédéric Volpon, whose workshop holds the prestigious Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label, a French government distinction for businesses that preserve rare, traditional skills.
Friday, November 27, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
10 rue Pasteur, 69190 Saint-Fons
The morning begins with coffee and an introduction to the craft, followed by a guided tour of Frédéric’s workshop, his veneering studio, and the cellar where carefully selected wood waits for its next life. We’ll finish with a friendly apéritif and a chance to share impressions.
ACL member Deanna will be there to welcome you and help bridge the language gap, so no need to brush up on your woodworking vocabulary.
Space is limited to 10 participants.
Getting there: Participants are responsible for their own transportation. A few carpool seats may be available, but they’re limited, so please plan accordingly.
Registration is open to American Club of Lyon members. Log in to sign up.
