About The American Club of Lyon

The American Club of Lyon (ACL) is a volunteer-based social club open to individuals, couples, and families who wish to maintain their cultural ties with the United States. The ACL was founded in 1987 in order to bring American expatriates together so they may share their common cultural background and share American traditions with other members, families, and friends in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Today, we organize activities tailored to adults, children, and whole families such as cooking classes, guided tours, children’s holiday parties, family hikes, Thanksgiving potluck dinners, wine and cheese tastings, fruit and vegetable picking, dinners at traditional Lyonnais bouchons, and an annual 4th of July cookout, to name a few. Our regular activities include Coffee Chat (each Tuesday morning), Cafe Français (each Thursday morning), Happy Hour (once or twice every month) and Book Club (once a month).

We support the global American expatriate community through our membership in FAWCO (Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas, Inc.), an international network of independent volunteer clubs and associations.
