About The American Club of Lyon

The American Club of Lyon (ACL) is a volunteer-based social club open to individuals, couples, and families who wish to maintain their cultural ties with the United States. The ACL was founded in 1987 in order to bring American expatriates together so they may share their common cultural background, share information and resources for living in Lyon, and share American traditions with other members, families, and friends in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

We regularly organize activities tailored to adults, children, and whole families such as cooking classes, guided tours, children’s events (like Halloween Trick or Treat, Easter Egg Hunt, and park outings), family hikes, Thanksgiving potluck dinners, wine and cheese tastings, fruit and vegetable picking, dinners at traditional Lyonnais bouchons, and an annual 4th of July cookout, to name a few. Our regular activities include a Coffee Chat meet-up each Tuesday morning for members and non-members, Happy Hour (once a month) and Book Club (once a month).
