Quarantine or no quarantine, book club will go on!
For April, we will be reading and discussing any of the books that we have yet to read. With the quarantine, we want you to take advantage of those books we have around the house that we meant to get to but just haven't had time. (If you need suggestions, don't hesitate to ask, as we also have some recommendations.) This way we can discover a range of new books together.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and our desire to reduce its spread as much as possible, we're moving Happy Hour into the virtual world. Just because the bars are closed does not mean we have to cancel Happy Hour! The bad news is that we don't get to see each other in real life, but the good news is people who are normally unable to attend Happy Hour might be able to join us here! So let’s toast with our favorite homemade drink!

This month's book club will be reading PACHINKO by Min Jin Lee:
Yeongdo, Korea 1911.
In a small fishing village on the banks of the East Sea, a club-footed, cleft-lipped man marries a fifteen-year-old girl. The couple have one child, their beloved daughter Sunja. When Sunja falls pregnant by a married yakuza, the family face ruin. But then Isak, a Christian minister, offers her a chance of salvation: a new life in Japan as his wife.
Following a man she barely knows to a hostile country in which she has no friends, no home, and whose language she cannot speak, Sunja’s salvation is just the beginning of her story.
Through eight decades and four generations, Pachinko is an epic tale of family, identity, love, death and survival.
